We have an important, exciting update for you: in 2021, the SVA Service Award Kaitiakitanga will transition into a new app.

This app will allow us to connect with larger numbers of student volunteers more efficiently, capturing their volunteering efforts and hours, enabling them to share their service summaries with tertiary providers or when applying for jobs.

The app will be available on both iOS and Android, remain free to use, and will have new and improved features that we’ll share with you in the new year.

This is a process that will happen manually; you won’t need to do anything, other than to download and use the new app when it’s released. If you’re an existing teacher or student, your profile will be transferred across to the new app along with all your existing data.

To help you learn the ropes of the new app, we will provide tutorials and additional resources around the time we release the app. These will be for both teachers and students, and will aim to make your experience as easy and fun as possible! We’ll be sending these to you via email (teachers), and they’ll also be available on our website.

Since the beginning of the SVA Service Award, 200 schools and 11,000 students have logged 500,000 hours of volunteering in Aotearoa - whakamīharo! We can’t wait to see this number continue to grow!

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please leave them in the comments section below. In the meantime, enjoy your summer holidays, and we look forward to introducing the SVA Service Award app to you in 2021!
